Vendors

In the warm weather months of 1st Fridays Art Walk, we arrange for vendors to be on the lawn of Central Park, our town square green. This is a wonderful way for you to sell to the growing crowds that attend each 1st Fridays Art Walk.

There are two applications for permits and fees paid which need to be completed and accepted before you can attend:

  • 1st Fridays Art Walk Permit - processing fee of $40 per month. Electricity is an additional $5 per month. Fill out an application
  • City of Fairfield Permit - costs $15 and is good for one year. For application, call (641) 472 6193

All food vendors are required to have completed an application from the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. Please call (515) 281-7102 to obtain one.

1st Fridays Art Walk is about "Art" and when accepting or denying this application we consider the relevancy your business has to Art. Your application will be denied if your business includes pamphlets, leaflets, political campaigning, proselytising or solicitation. 1st Fridays Art Walk reserves the right to deny your application.

Vendors must bring their own freestanding tent and/or tables and arrive during the vendor set-up hour on the 1st Friday Art Walk afternoon to receive their assigned space on the green. Set-up time is 4:00 - 6:00 pm, or by individually arranged appointment with 1st Fridays Art Walk.

Space assignments are on the prior approval of the permits above and assigned on a space at a first come, first served basis, and are at the discretion of the 1st Fridays Art Walk staff.

NO TENTS WITH SPIKES are allowed on the green due to the lawn's underground sprinkler system. Everything must be free standing. Additionally, there is no driving vehicles of any kind on Central Park lawn. Unloading can be done from your car parked in a space adjacent to the park.

Street Performers and Bands

We love our street performers, also known as buskers! They really make our art walks special, and we encourage musicians, acrobats, jugglers, magicians, actors, entertainers, etc. to apply. All our street entertainers perform pro bono (for free) for 1st Fridays Art Walk in exchange for the exposure our art walk crowds provide you. The Vendor permit fee is waived, however a vendor permit application needs to be completed and the application needs to be approved. If you wish to sell CDs of your music, be sure to mention it in your application. We encourage you to apply, as it is a fabulous way to get the word out about your talents.

We are also seeking bands to play in the gazebo during warm weather art walks. Bands must provide all their own sound equipment and must be family-appropriate in music lyrics. Performers who have not played with us before will need to provide a clear description of your performance and/or a video or CD of your performance. The Vendor permit fee is waived, however a vendor permit application needs to be completed and the application needs to be approved. All performer decisions are at the discretion of the 1st Fridays Art Walk Board and staff.
