About the Fairfield Iowa 1st Fridays Art Walk
1st Fridays Art Walk of Fairfield, Iowa is a fusion of all types of art and entertainment and is held the first Friday of every month of the year… rain, snow, or shine. This free, family-friendly event takes place or around Fairfield's historic town square, and is open to the public from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.
Fairfield, Iowa, is known as one of the most creative communities in the world; it features over 30 galleries, theaters, and art venues and is home to over 600 artists, musicians, actors, photographers, writers, film makers, poets, and dancers. Consequently, 1st Fridays Art Walk has offered a remarkable variety and quality of art and entertainment since our October 2002 launch.
Each month, Fairfield's art galleries and venues, including various shops and restaurants, all join forces to create a festive time for visitors to feast their eyes, ears, and taste buds as they stroll through town, enjoying the best of what is offered by our diverse and creative community.
Every Art Walk offers something new and exciting to discover, including free entertainment and activities on the square green…. live bands in the gazebo, street musicians, jugglers, acrobats, ice sculptors, improv theatre, magicians, plus numerous spontaneous acts of creativity. We have a kid-creative children's program which features fun activities for youngsters of all ages. Special themes throughout the year offer a wide variety of entertaining and unique activities.
Named the Iowa Tourism Event of the Year in October of 2005 by the Iowa Tourism Office and the Travel Federation of America, Fairfield's 1st Fridays Art Walk strives toward greater creativity and more fun with each passing art walk.

Organization
1st Fridays Art Walk of Fairfield is a non-profit, educational organization, with IRS 501(C)(3) status. The organization and events are run primarily by volunteers and administrated by a Board of Directors which organizes each month's events.
